Auntie Stacey

Dear Jakey:

You have brought more joy and happiness to my life than I ever thought possible.  The first time I saw you, I knew you were meant to do great things. Boy, was I right. Even around children, it is rare to experience true joy and unconditional love, and Jacob you brought both of those to our family.  You were a true gift from God.  Your laughter and smiles brightened everyone’s day, even if they didn’t know you.

A few weeks ago when I was driving to Saskatchewan, your dad called me while you were in the tub.  He put me on speakerphone, so I could here you giggling and splashing. Man, did you love the water.  Every time you would stand up in the tub, your dad would say “Jacob, sit down” and you would plop back down in the tub, just laughing and having a great ol’ time.  It was one of the greatest drives I have ever had.

Last Christmas was one of the first times I got to see you dance.  You were so precious.  And now at a time like this, I thought that “The Dance” by Garth Brooks suited you to a tee.  Here are some of the lyrics:

Looking back on the memory of

The dance we shared ‘neath the stars above

For a moment all the world was right

How could I have know that you’d ever say goodbye

And now I’m glad I didn’t know

The way it all would end, the way it all would go

Our live are better left to chance

I could have missed the pain, but I’d have to miss

The dance

Jacob, I am so very grateful that I never had to miss the dance. Even if it was only for 14 months.  Thank you for everything that you have taught me.  Please know that we are all here for your mom and dad, and always will be. I know that you will always be shining down on us and helping us through what life brings. Ryan and Kim were truly blessed with an angel.  An angel that I got to call my nephew.

Love you always and forever,

Auntie Stacey
